Picture Book Studio

Picture Book Studio is a workspace optimized for image-heavy projects such as children’s books, portfolios, cookbooks, and magazines.

What you will learn

  • How to access the studio
  • Spread list and adding visual pages
  • Format and export shortcuts

When does it appear?

The Picture Book tab in the sidebar appears for these categories:

  • Children’s Book
  • Illustrated Book (Portfolio)
  • Cookbook / Recipe
  • Magazine / Zine

For these types, the project opens directly in Picture Book Studio on first launch.

Interface

Location: Sidebar → Picture Book

  • Left list: All visual pages (spreads) with thumbnails.
  • Center: Full editor for the selected page — add or replace images.
  • Right: Live book preview (device modes).

Adding a visual page

  1. Use Add visual page or + to create a new visual-page.
  2. Click the image area, drag and drop, or use the ▢ button.
  3. Each page exports as an independent full-page image.

Visual page settings

In Format → Advanced:

  • Visual page title: Show or hide title on visual pages
  • Image fit: cover (crop) / contain (fit)
  • Bleed: Edge margin for print bleed

Export

With Illustrated format, full-page images are preserved in EPUB and PDF. For Kindle KDP use Kindle export; page order matters for fixed-layout children’s books.
