The Manusly editor is built on TipTap. Text formatting, images, footnotes, callout boxes, and page breaks are all managed from a single toolbar.

Toolbar
Location: Editor tab → directly above the editor

Images
Inline image
- Click the Image icon in the toolbar, or drag and drop an image into the editor.
- Choose a file (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF).
- The image is copied to the project folder and placed in the text.
You can paste from the clipboard with Ctrl+V.
Full-page image
For children’s books, portfolios, or illustration pages:
- Click the ▢ (Maximize) button, or click the image area directly on a visual page type.
- The image fills the page; in EPUB/PDF it is treated as a separate page.
Footnotes
- Place the cursor where the footnote should go.
- Insert footnote (sticky note icon) → enter text → Insert.
- In the modal, confirm quickly with Ctrl+Enter (Mac: Cmd+Enter).
Footnotes are preserved in EPUB export and appear as clickable notes in readers.
Callout boxes
Click the MessageSquare icon to add a tip, warning, or info box. The default type is info. Use them in academic or guide books to highlight important notes.
Page break
Page break (line icon) creates a hard page break in print PDF. Use it for controlled pagination within a chapter.
Visual page mode
When the page type is visual-page:
- The editor shows only the full-page image area.
- Inline image and footnote tools are hidden.
- Hint at the bottom: “▢ or click / drag on the area below”
Large images are optimized automatically (max 2048px). For print, check trim and bleed settings in Format → Advanced.
